The Weimaraner is in the Sporting Group, he was once in Germany used for big game but as those populations decreased, the Weimaraner was used for gamebirds. They were kept to Germany until the 1950's when Eisenhower took one named "Heidi" for a family pet in the White House. Actress Grace Kelly also brought one home. They have the softest ears, their eyes are Blue or Amber and they make great family pets. Currently they are #40 on the Most Popular Dog List of the AKC.
