The Pug is one of the Oldest Breeds of Dogs. Known to be around prior to 400 BC. It was officially recognized by the AKC in 1885 and is currently on their Most Popular Dog Breed List at #33 Josephine, wife to Napoleon sent secret messages to him under the collar of her Pug, "Fortune" while she was imprisoned at Les Carmes. Buddhist Monasteries kept Pugs in Tibet. Pugs went from China to Japan to Europe.
